THEME FOR MARCH IS OLD WINE IN NEW BOTTLES!

Our March meeting will be held on Sunday, March 21, 2010, at 3:00 pm at Happy China Buffet at 753 Stillwater Avenue in Bangor.

The theme of the meeting is Old Wine in New Bottles, featuring standard magical effects that have been reframed with a fresh look and a novel presentation. Professor Miller will be the Theme Leader for Old Wine in New Bottles.

Dr. Wilson will present a Teaching Table on Ball, Cone & Silk. This set of props was used by Dai Vernon to create a unique act. The moves and routines have not been very well documented in the magic literature. If you have an 18" silk in a light color (white, yellow, or orange), please bring it to the meeting. If you have a cone or billiard balls please bring those as well.

There will be a business meeting following the performances. Please see the agenda for the business meeting.

ELLIOTT CARD CHALLENGE SET FOR APRIL 18!

Elliott Card Challenge

The fifth annual Dr. James William Elliott Card Challenge will be held on Sunday, April 18, 2010, at 3:00 pm at the Happy China Buffet at 753 Stillwater Avenue in Bangor, Maine.

The Dr. James William Elliott Card Challenge is open to all members of the International Brotherhood of Magicians, who need not be members of Ring 362. Contestants have up to ten minutes to perform card magic using a deck of unknown design supplied by the Contest Official. Extraneous cards may not be added to the deck.

CHUNG LING SOO STAGE MAGIC COMPETITION SET FOR MAY 15!

The fourth annual Chung Ling Soo Stage Magic Competition will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2010, at 7:00 pm at the Next Generation Theatre in Brewer, Maine.

The Chung Ling Soo Stage Magic Competition is open to all members of the International Brotherhood of Magicians, who need not be members of Ring 362. Contestants have up to ten minutes to perform stage magic. Performers may communicate through gesture, movement, or pantomime. Performers shall not speak, use narration (either recorded or spoken by another individual), or communicate through writing during their performance. Any speech or other attempt to use verbal language (narration or writing) during a performance shall disqualify that contestant. Please see the complete contest rules.

Contestants must register with the Contest Official ( Paul Szauter, 207-288-0388) 30 days prior to the Chung Ling Soo Stage Magic Competition, that is, by midnight on Thursday, April 15, 2010.

THE MAGIC OF CHRISTMAS BRINGS CHEER TO BUCKSPORT!
The Magic of Christmas, a magic show for the whole family, returned to the Alamo Theatre in Bucksport, Maine, on December 5, 2009. The show was the creation of Ring 362 of the International Brotherhood of Magicians, a nonprofit group for the promotion of the magical arts. Five magicians - Danny Baker, Gary Jewell, Professor Miller, Alex Turanski, and Dr. Wilson - joined special guest artist Sennyo for the second annual Christmas show presented by I.B.M. Ring 362. The Magic of Christmas was packed with comedy, beauty, and feats of wonder, and climaxed with the magical appearance of Santa Claus, who presented gifts to all who attended.

Santa Claus hands out gifts as members of the audience meet the cast at the end of the show.

WORLDWIDE ESCAPE ARTIST RELAY 2009 SWEEPS THE GLOBE!

October 24 was the date of the third Worldwide Escape Artist Relay. The Worldwide Escape Artist Relay circled the globe as escape artists around the world performed a variety of thrilling escapes. Each performer documented his or her performance as it took place. The participants in the Worldwide Escape Artist Relay, men and women, young and old, novices and seasoned pros emerging from retirement, united to restore the Art of Escape to its rightful place in the public imagination!

CHUNG LING SOO STAGE MAGIC COMPETITION!

Danny Baker took First Place at the 2009 Chung Ling Soo Stage Magic Competition on Sunday, May 17, 2009, at 7:00 pm at the Alamo Theatre in Bucksport, Maine. He also won the new People's Choice Award.
