Ring Event Report
May 27, 2006

This is a brief report of a Ring publicity stunt submitted as a Ring Event to TLR.

On May 27, Ring 362 staged a publicity stunt to promote its upcoming public show in Bar Harbor, Maine. Five Ring members participated in the publicity stunt, "The Perilous Garden," which received front page coverage in two local newspapers.

The stunt was staged on a sand bar that appears at low tide in Frenchman Bay off Bar Harbor. Surrounded by orange safety cones, caution tape, and flowers, trapmaster Randy Von Smith and assistant Aubrey Smith laid a path of fourteen bone-crushing animal traps, while W. Dayton Salisbury took photos.

Dr. Wilson, wearing his trademark top hat and frock coat, studied the course to memorize the location of the traps before donning a stainless steel blindfold and walking the course barefoot. Halfway through the walk, he lost his balance and fell to one knee, triggering a trap that barely missed his hand. Near the end, his right foot grazed a trap, which snapped shut on the cuff of his pants. Dr. Wilson was assisted by Professor Miller, his partner in Miller and Wilson's Theater of Marvels.

The Ring's "All-Star Magical Revue" on July 4 will include performances and backstage work by seven Ring members. The vaudeville-style show will be enhanced by Eostara Dancers, a group of six belly dancers.
