Houdini Night
Sunday, October 15, 2006

Siberian Chain

Our October meeting will be held on Sunday, October 15, 2006, at 3:00 pm at the Friars' Bakehouse in Bangor, Maine. Here are directions to the Friars' Bakehouse.

The theme of the meeting is Houdini Night, featuring the magic and escapes of Houdini.

Harry Houdini (1874-1926) was arguably the most famous magician ever. He was known principally as an escape artist, but began his career as a magician (King of Cards). He had a career-long interest in spiritualism and a passion for exposing fraudulent spirit mediums. The magic, escapes, and spiritualistic demonstrations that Houdini performed provide Ring members with a large range of possibilities for themed performances. Houdini was also a friend of Dr. James William Elliott, and edited Elliott's Last Legacy.

The Friars' Bakehouse will be donating a meal of sandwiches. Members should bring soda, drinks, chips, and the like.

The meeting will begin with magic. Members performing magic that fits the theme of Houdini Night will perform first. Members are also free to perform any other magic effects that do not fit the theme following all performances for Houdini Night.

We will hold our business meeting following the performances. Please see the agenda for this meeting.
