Sunday, May 18, 2008

Our May meeting will be held on Sunday, May 18, 2008, at 3:00 pm at the All Souls Congregational Church in Bangor, Maine. Here are directions to the All Souls Congregational Church.

The theme of the meeting is Parlor Magic. The second annual Max Malini Parlor Magic Contest will be held at the meeting. The Max Malini Parlor Magic Contest is open to all members of Ring 362, who must be members in good standing of the International Brotherhood of Magicians. Contestants will have ten minutes to perform parlor magic of their choosing before a panel of judges, their peers, and members of the public. The judges will rank contestants, awarding first, second, and third place, according to the contest rules. All persons present, with the exception of the judges, will vote to grant a People's Choice Award.

Please see the complete rules for the Max Malini Parlor Magic Contest. Members wishing to compete must register with the Contest Official, Matt Bennage, no later than one week in advance, that is, by midnight of Saturday, May 11, 2008.

The contest will be open to the public for a suggested donation of $5. The proceeds from admission will be split between the All Souls Congregational Church and the Ring.

As this is a public show, President Danny Baker has appointed a show committee. Matt Bennage is chair of Talent Coordination and will be recruiting performers if the number of contestants is insufficient for a public show. Paul Szauter is chair of Publicity and Ticket Sales. There is no Stage and Theater Management Committee, as it will not be needed for parlor magic.

Our raffle prize for the May meeting will be a Penn & Teller Casino Chip. Members and guests may purchase as many tickets as they like at 1 each, 6 for $5, or 13 for $10.

Penn & Teller

We will hold our business meeting following the performances. Please see the agenda for this meeting.
